Anyone who has worked with the public will have funny, strange and unbelievable stories to tell. I’ve worked as a taxi driver for over twenty years now; in my job we meet people from many different back grounds from the little old lady going to the local shops to people who are a little worse for wear from drink and drugs. So I’m going to share some of my stories with you, some will be funny, some will be strange, some will be unbelievable and some will be scary. The first one is about a man who needed to learn some manners hope you enjoy.
Who’s in My Office?
One afternoon I was sent to a local factory, and told to wait at the offices and main reception. I parked outside and after a couple of minutes a man approached. He was tall, confident looking and wearing what looked like an expensive suit. He was carrying a briefcase and talking loudly on his mobile phone. He opened the back door, threw his briefcase onto the back seat, slammed the door shut, and then got in the front passenger seat.
“Hello, is it Manchester Airport you’re going?” I asked.
He grunted. I assumed this meant ‘yes’, and started to drive. After a mile or so, he dialed a number on his phone and then began telling somebody to ‘do this’ and ‘do that’, in a tone that was clear to me that he was used to people doing exactly what ‘he’ said.
He then stopped talking and looked at me, and in the same rather unpleasant tone he said,” Turn that down!” and looked towards the car radio.
The radio was not playing loudly, and because of his assumption that I would do this for him, I simply, didn’t.
He spoke more orders down the phone then again he looked at me, and in a louder and more aggressive voice he said, “Turn that down!”
Again I simply didn’t.
He then said with clear agitation in his voice down the phone,” Right, I’ll have to phone you back, I cannot hear a thing!” and ended the call.
Then he looked at me and said with a scowl,” I told you to turn that down, twice!” and glared at me.
I glanced at him and said calmly and clearly, “Yes you did, but in case you haven’t noticed, you are in MY office now, not yours!”
He looked as though he had just been chastised by his mother, and from that moment on, he did not speak another word, and strangely, did not make another phone call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I guess HEARD you loud and clear! LOL! Great post!
