Taxi Tale 13 - The Weather must be 'Really Bad'!!!!!
Got a job from a local factory some years ago, to pick a business man up and take him to the airport. He was a tall man wearing an expensive looking suit and carrying a smart black briefcase.
He got in and in a strong German accent said, “Manchester Airport please.”
“Ok, no problem,” I replied.
We then set off up the duel-carriageway towards the motorway. The sky suddenly darkened and spots of rain began to fall, which soon got heavier and heavier until it was absolutely pouring down. I had to adjust my heater vents and face the warm air at my windscreen and had my wipers going ten to the dozen in order to see where I was going.
After about a mile travelling in silence, the man leaned forwards and peered up towards the ominous thunder clouds. He gazed for a few seconds then sat back in his chair. He shook his head and then said, “Why oh why we ever wanted to invade this country is completely beyond me!”
How apt, a German in England with a cracking sense of humour!
